Is this H’s HumCo “market indicator” service, predicting that the price of pot will go down?

Is it advice for local sellers to soften their price and make as many deals as possible at reggae rising?

  2. Heraldo says:

Notice that Humboldt County is not even mentioned in the article. And yet there is a desperate attempt to “rebrand” Humboldt County.

  3. longwind says:

No NAN, this is a cop indicator service. It indicates they’ll be ‘coptering for easy pickings on public land this summer, and not bothering much with small scenes on private land. This has been the message every recent summer, by the way. So small scenes keep getting bigger, and big prices keep getting smaller.

It’s funny to me that people don’t realize we’ve already entered a legalization economy. But the corporate pot fields so long predicted are found in national forests brimming the Central Valley, instead of on the valley floor. I guess this way the agro-grows don’t even bid for water rights . . .

btw there was an intriguing KMUD news piece a couple of years ago that pointed out there had never been evidence presented that the mopes occasionally arrested and deported from these scenes are working for foreign cartels. Can we still hate them if they’re entry-level expoitees in a typical unskilled domestic industry, which is driving down pay scales as usual? I can. Woo-hoo, I agree with NAN!

I hope they pull all of your plants folks. You are breaking the law. Change the law if you can, but until then follow it, don’t break it. And it is all for greed. You growers pollute the earth, steal water, leave plastic and diesel all around. You vandalize rental units which hurts deserving folk who really need a safe place to live and hurts the property owner. You are a drain on public resources. You don’t pay your fair share of squat and you make Humboldt a laughing stock of the nation.

  5. Not A Native says:

Methinks you doth protest too much, H. There’s no need, or newsworthy purpose in mentioning the obvious and what is already known. “Dog bites man” isn’t news any more than “Pot being grown in HumCo”.

But the rebranding campaign is silly. Its an attempt to convert the mainstream to a denial of reality mentality that is the Humboltian subculture’s norm.

  6. Black Flag says:

“But does the jury’s power to veto bad laws exist under our Constitution?

It certainly does! At the time the Constitution was written, the definition of the term “jury” referred to a group of citizens empowered to judge both the law and the evidence in the case before it. Then, in the February term of 1794, the Supreme Court conducted a jury trial in the case of the State of Georgia vs. Brailsford1. The instructions to the jury in the first jury trial before the Supreme Court of the United States illustrate the true power of the jury. Chief Justice John Jay said: “It is presumed, that juries are the best judges of facts; it is, on the other hand, presumed that courts are the best judges of law. But still both objects are within your power of decision.” (emphasis added) “…you have a right to take it upon yourselves to judge of both, and to determine the law as well as the fact in controversy”.

Thank you my anarchist friend for raising the issue of jury power.

Authoritarians of all kinds, Democratic and Republican will deny that this power exists and they have tried to crush it. Lawyers especially hate the idea that us “commoners” might have some sense.

Jury Nullification has recently been pushed forward as a way to free some victims of the “war on drugs” i.e. the “war against the people” and combat the fascist state that the authoritarian Democratic-Republican Party has established here. Nullification was used in the south to thwart the prosecution of some racist KKKers so some liberal Democrats don’t like it. Of course it can also be used to free an innocent pot farmer.

We the people have this right but it like all rights must be exercised vigorously or lost.

    have a peaceful day,
    Bill

Also known in the field as, “dumbing down America” through multiple conspiracies to devalue certain parts of history, or not give it any attention whatsoever, so that generation after generation of Americans will become less inclined to SEARCH for historical truths that they do not have a basis of knowledge to start the research. Blame falls squarely upon the government public education system “set-up” for this treasonist behavior! Power and greed folks -learn it, live it, understand it. Keep voting them in right, lol.

  9. anon says:

when they raid the fields they should just cut the plant down and leave it there–i hope they’re not actually hauling it all out; what a waste of time when they could be on to the next massive grow…

  10. anon says:

of course when there are actual buds(in sept/oct) i can see them removing the whole plant…

  11. Skippy says:

Big grows on public land: Yet another “pot problem” that is really a Prohibition problem. Legalize cannabis, and watch this problem disappear, along with pot robberies, residential grows, etc.

Freedom: Try it, you’ll like it!

  12. Another history tidbit to add to Black Flag’s comment about the legal justification for what we’ve come to know as jury nullification:

“In 1805, one of the charges against Justice Samuel Chase in his impeachment trial was that he wrongly prevented an attorney from arguing to a jury that the law should not be followed.”

  13. "HENCHMAN OF JUSTICE" says:

    Authorities blame Mexican drug traffickers.

Response – Pffft, no self-responsibility by American government authoritative figureheads. Let’s see here, lack of border control, too much unchecked immigration, prohibition laws, etc… Yep, draconian authorities play the blame game because Dracula can’t be the visible man seen in the mirror. Pffft!

  14. Black Flag says:

Taxation causes illegal grows. People are forced into slavery through taxation and debt- this forces them to whore themselves out to mexican drug lords in exchange for federal reserve notes to pay taxes.
Inflation has wrecked the former united states, and only the federal reserve system is to blame- a fixed currency would have value built in.

  15. olphart says:

Legalize marijuana, make poison oak illegal.

  16. “People are forced into slavery through taxation…”
“Inflation has wrecked the former united states.”

Black Flag should write in all caps. it might boost his credibility.

  17. Humboldt Truth says:

    Black flag is right!

The single most important issue in the country right now is our monetary policy! We need to get rid of the federal reserve and there monopoly on americas money supply. Think of it! Our country has a private bank (corporation) that runs our money supply and charges government / banks extra intrest (Think BIllions of dollars in intrests) just to operate the money supply. We could remove them and not have to pay this intrest anymore! But they are not willing to give up that monopoly that easily! Its going to take all of us coming together to defeat these powerfull corporate intrests! Wake up everyone! This is not a right / left issue this is about exposing the biggest corporate fraud around! Our nations central bank is Not FEDERAL and is NOT a RESERVE! ITs a scam, and they are devalueing your money thru inflation witch is the biggest hidden tax of them all! Think of it everything from housing to food, water, utilitys etc is all going up in price! Why isnt your paycheck going up too! Your money is gradually loosing more and more value! Please google: Ron Paul and try and educate yourself as much as possible about who, what and why we have the federal reserve in power today! And learn how the same bankers who create these horiable economic messes always come out on top in the end!

  18. "HENCHMAN OF JUSTICE" says:

    Humboldt Truth is correctomundo!

One problem I see in the short term for gold is this – are you physically handling it or is it physically in your possession when you think you bought it? If not, then gold is not any more stable or reliable than the fiat system. He who holds the gold, controls the gold. This would be mostly the BIG “G”! Time to get back to BARTERING – NO PAPERWORK!

    Sorry, I’m not religious.

  20. Mr. Nice says:

there was an intriguing KMUD news piece a couple of years ago that pointed out there had never been evidence presented that the mopes occasionally arrested and deported from these scenes are working for foreign cartels.

That’s because the show is run by domestic cartels. The same “cartels” that spray paint roman numerals on your fence at night. The officials dodge this issue by calling them “Mexican cartels,” which is only a half lie.

If the Justice Department admitted that this activity was connected to gangs based in California, people might freak out over how little control the authorities have. They would only admit that Asian gangs were running the show to the north after the FBI went in and busted them in Operation Dragon or whatever racist name they gave it.

  21. Cristina says:

You know, it never ceases to astonish me how many people in HumCo have their heads in the sand about the reality of the cartels. HELLO, do you know ANYTHING about what’s going on in Mexico?! And the Mexican drug war is spilling over more and more into the U.S., especially in places like Miami and Phoenix.

Not that everything on the public lands is cartel activity, but a lot of it is, especially in Southern California.

Legalize it, tax it, drop the bottom out of the black market, let people do what they will on their own private property – provided they’re following environmental-safety and water-regulation rules – and let the law persecute the REAL criminals… the ones destroying our public lands.

And we’re going to close 100+ state parks with what’s already going on? California is, indeed, on its way to becoming a Third World country.

  22. Mr. Nice says:

Not that everything on the public lands is cartel activity, but a lot of it is, especially in Southern California.

I’m not questioning that criminal gangsters are heading this up, just which gangsters. FM and such might be operating in the north… but wouldn’t it make more sense for the organizations whose sphere of influence is already in the north to be responsible?

The recently unfolding gang situation is Vancouver is telling. This is not simply a problem with Mexico. These gangsters are just as homegrown as their product is. It is no wonder they know the hills so well.

  23. Anony.Miss says:

There were three grow houses busted yesterday in Arcata. I heard NBC was present at at least one of them.

  24. Mr. Nice says:

There were three grow houses busted yesterday in Arcata. I heard NBC was present at at least one of them.

It did seem like there were a lot of obvious undercover cops in Arcata yesterday. I don’t go often enough to recognize the difference between that and normal, but it did seem like something was up. Like when I was buying that empty paper bag on the tracks from that mobile paper bag salesperson, I saw two unmarked cars cruising around looking all 5-0 making a perimeter style.

Half of those houses down there hum at night like they have their own transformer. I wouldn’t think it would be too hard for po to figure out who was blowing up their rental.

Why wasn’t this in the substandard? I’d think they’d use a big ass pot leaf on the front page for something like that.

  25. Anony.Miss says:

I agree- where is the coverage? The one that my family witnessed did not have undercover cops- they were Arcata cops as well as county sheriffs cars. They were pulling plants out of there in plain view.

I get my news about the Mexican cartels from Lou Dobbs on CNN. He tells it like it is. And that’s the way it is.

  28. southernbythegrace says:

So whats the word on the raids??!! I know of one in sunny brae with news reporters…was it arcata, Hum co sherriffs, state, or feds? Were the houses connected? Anybody have any inside info?

  29. Anonymous says:

There was one (raid) in Eureka tied to the ones in Arcata. Lots of cash, coke, and guns.

    Everyday Humboldt County stuff.
