Obama hates America and other thoughts from Fortuna City Councilman Dean Glaser
Now that Fortuna is fixing to place the motto “In God We Trust” in its council chambers at city hall, KSLG’s John Matthews sat down with Councilman Dean Glaser, who proposed the signage.
Go ahead and listen, and then ask yourself how the heck Glaser ever got elected to a governing body. The only thing missing from his iconic flag tie and buttons is a tin foil hat.
In the world according to Glaser, shadowy forces are slowly destroying the United States by seeking to eliminate American borders and forfeit our sovereignty. And if you don’t believe him, just ask Gene Owens, a Fortuna Tea Bagger and member of the John Birch Society — a group working to drown the US government, “with God’s help.”
Glaser believes what he wants to believe and neither facts nor Google will change his mind. Early in the interview Glaser is adamant that unlike other presidents, Barack Obama doesn’t say “God bless America.” This is false. Obama uses the phrase ad nauseam, as noted in transcripts here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here, and there are many more examples. How does a God-fearing Christian American miss all those God Blesses? And why should anyone take his other claims seriously?
The Atlantic covered this very issue in January, chastising Obama for using the tired phrase to end his speeches. The author notes revered Republican President Abraham Lincoln chose not to say it, which must make him a Godless Commie in Glaser’s eyes.
“I need to save my credibility,” Glaser said. “I try to be an informed citizen.”
Right.
Glaser is hoping other Humboldt towns will hoist the “In God We Trust.” He named Blue Lake, Trinidad, Ferndale and Rio Dell as possibilities.

The New Republic is not the periodical that published all the racist/homophobic/successionist/anti-semite writings. They reported about them. The racist/homophobic/successionist/anti-semite writings all appeared in newletters that were sent out to “folks” around the country under various titles. All of the titles contained Ron Paul’s name. They included Ron Paul’s Freedom Report, Ron Paul Political Report and The Ron Paul Survival Report. They were one of the ways Paul kept in touch with part of his base in between stints in Congress. While it has been insisted that Paul didn’t write all of the crap that went out under his banner, his campaign spokeman admitted he read at least some of the “incendiary stuff” that went out. I won’t repeat it here, but if you want to sample a whiff, the New Republic article contains quite a bit of it here.

Now back to ron paul. You have the weakest case against him. Ron paul cannot control what other people chose to write and put his name on. The man has countless times come out against racism and has denounced white supremist and has also renounced the suposive racist writings thats someone else put his name on. This man is clearly innocent.

I do partially agree with you. Libertarianism in the United States places too much emphasis on property rights. The fact that all of this property was stolen from indigenous people and developed on the backs of slaves doesn’t fit into the Libertarian property rights platform. The fact that this still happens is even further from the Libertarian party discussion.
Being a social anarchist, I agree with some of the small-l libertarian concepts. I don’t think that normative ideals need to be completely rational to be effective. The concept of equality will likely never be reached but it isn’t irrational to try.

Dean Glaser is the proof that there should be a maximum age limit for elected officials, like there is a minimum age limit. Glaser is too old and too clueless to be in office.
