I hear that the tea party is hosting a fun raiser for Sundberg.

If guilt by association is the best smear available, Gallegos has already lost. A significant portion of Democrats are unhappy with him.

  3. A-Nony-Mouse
    September 22, 2010 at 8:10 am

But I hear that BOTH of the unhappy Dems are meeting with Paul to work it out.

  4. September 22, 2010 at 8:10 am

This is weak, H. There are just as many odious juxtapositions involving Gaggy.

A new day. No duh. Re-elect Paul Gallegos.

  6. Goldie
    September 22, 2010 at 8:49 am

Paul has been condescending in his interviews. He has become a little god in his own mind maybe. I don’t know. I am not sure how I will vote on this. It may be time to try someone new in the DA’a office.

    September 22, 2010 at 8:50 am

Sorry A-Nony-Mouse, but there is a large continent of Democratic environmental consultants who want Gallegos out. The story that gets me is the one about how lawyers often switch clients right before entering the courtrooms, literally reading up on their cases as they walk inside.

The outcome of the D.A. election depends solely on where the Paul Hagen vote goes.

Salzman has been out sticking bumper stickers on sign posts? Did he put them on parking meters this time, too? Hilarious.

    September 22, 2010 at 9:28 am

environmental consultants??? you mean the ones working for Security National?
All of the environmental attorneys of worth are opposed to Allison Jackson.

Anyone who thinks having Rose Welsh’s choice of DA’s would be good for a healthy society is one sick puppy. Chris Crawford we know. The far right, the Teabaggers and all of Bass and Sundberg’s supporters we know, but folks who consider themselves liberal would never support Jackson, at least not if they knew the woman.

  12. Plain Jane
    September 22, 2010 at 9:29 am

That looks like it could be Rose’s sign post since she was / is a supporter of all 3. Her post today gives credence to Mresquans funny about her really being Salzman.

    September 22, 2010 at 9:47 am

Can anyone give me some specific reasons for thinking Jackson would be worse than Gallegos in the office of District Attorney?

  14. September 22, 2010 at 9:53 am

She lied about getting an endorsement from Betty Chin, then made up a story about Betty being harassed for wanting her name off the endorsement list.

  15. Ed

Then there was that fib about Ed Denson.

  16. Plain Jane
    September 22, 2010 at 9:59 am

And the fib about the child molester getting only probation.

  17. September 22, 2010 at 9:59 am

Fib? It was a massive smear job!

  18. September 22, 2010 at 9:59 am

No question. It’s an easy vote for me. Jackson all the way.

    September 22, 2010 at 10:33 am

Remember this equation. It will come in handy as the campaigns ramp up.

Will H expose ALL candidates’ lies? Or will some liars get a free pass?

  22. September 22, 2010 at 10:48 am

I asked Allison Jackson how she voted on Proposition 8 and if she supports marriage equality. She finally responded after I sent her two emails and made one phone call. Her eight word answer to both questions is this:

“The answer is, I support equality for all.”

Paul Gallegos, on the other hand, promptly replied and in detail explained that he fully supports marriage equality and voted no on Proposition 8.

Thanks for the anwers the the question I asked at 9:47.

Let me be a little more specific. Did Jackson do anything wrong during the time she was working with the County’s CAST unit to ferret out and punish child abusers? For example, did she prosecute many people who turned out to be innocent or did she persecute people by going over her legal authority to pursue them?

  25. September 22, 2010 at 11:05 am

Instead of rolling your eyes, trying using your brain. There are many reasons why a district attorney should be on the right side of civil rights. Write to me off list if you want me to give you a few.

For clarity’s sake, I want to point out that I am the Anonymous who posted the message at 11:03 – and I have no idea who the Anonymous of 10:57 is.

    September 22, 2010 at 11:19 am

Well, Joe, seeing as your research revealed both candidates support civil rights, I don’t see your point.

  29. September 22, 2010 at 11:22 am

For one thing, it speaks to the responsiveness of the candidates to the constituents.

  30. anonymous
    September 22, 2010 at 11:40 am

I’ve heard AJ has done a great job at getting 100+ year sentences for child abusers, but not always for the victim’s benefit–when they are forced onto the stand to testify.

“The answer is, I support equality for all.”

    …under the law.

That is not same as support or not support of the right for gay marriage.

    September 22, 2010 at 1:46 pm

8:50 you are hung by your own words, ” the story that gets me” You have no idea if it’s true. You’re willing to repeat anything that smears Paul, whether it’s a lie or just made up. Rumors are cheap and plentiful at election time, aren’t they.
I think the point is that DAs have to make decisions about whether they can win a case with the evidence they have. If the evidence is weak or otherwise compromised, a plea bargain often secures punishment (jail time) without the risk of the perp getting off on the “beyond a shadow of a doubt” part.
So unless you know all the details, don’t be the source of lies.
Now if Allison thinks she can take every accused to trial, she’s in for some rude shocks. For one thing, the courts are already clogged. For another, there’s no way she can claim to have sufficient evidence for every accused. And then there’s the “innocent until proven guilty” thing. In her mind they’re all guilty? Now there’s protection of our rights that I don’t want to get near!

I did see a lawn in Eureka with both a Bass sign and Kuehnel sign the other day. On E Street I think. I was heading towards Henderson Center and I wasn’t on H.

“I did see a lawn in Eureka with both a Bass sign and Kuehnel sign the other day.”

I have seen a few lawns with both Bass and Gallegos signs in Eureka.I also see some of the same names on Paul’s support list and the lists of Bass,Newman, and Brady.

    September 22, 2010 at 11:12 am
Which would need no explanation if ya’ll would use a pseudonym other than “Anonymous.”

I have tried, Heraldo. I have tried.

I chose a pseudonym that was an oxymoron, one I was sure would evoke a certain wry laughter in your readers. It did not. Calling myself “The Great Anonymous” only got me a harvest of resentment from commenters who mistakenly thought I was trying to hoist myself up onto an undeserved pedestal. So I went back to being one of the unnumerable Anonymouses. Sadder but wiser, I realized I am no damn good at choosing pseudonyms.

Help me out. How long can my pseudo-moniker be? I’d like it to accurately reflect my personality and political and social beliefs, so I may need rather more space than some pseudononymous commenters use.

what pray tell is wrong with the name Sue youre perfectly happy to discuss BayKeeper getting a paycheck for allowing the same damn cleanup on the Balloon Track that has been proposed all along. Maybe you like the name “Extortion” better.

  47. Largo
    September 24, 2010 at 8:36 am

It’s too bad that Allison Jackson, a much better choice for DA than Gallegos, is saddled with Rose as a supporter.

Please try to forget that at the polls. Vote for Jackson.

  48. Plain Jane
    September 24, 2010 at 8:42 am

The problems with Jackson are the very reasons Rose is a supporter, Largo. She has smeared, lied, and connived for years to become DA. She wouldn’t get my vote if she was the only one on the ballot.

  49. Anonymous
    September 24, 2010 at 3:34 pm

Yet the person I know best who has actually worked with Jackson says she is an honorable and intelligent person who did a lot of great work prosecuting child moleters who otherwise might not have been stopped.

No matter what clever name you choose it won’t compensate for dumb ass idiotic stupid comments or ranting posts. So get off your high horse trying to project some phony image as if anyone really cares what pseudonym you have. But its really all about you isn’t it? Well how about a short name as a convenience so anyone replying can type just a few letters?

Ever think about considering someone else in your deep ponderings for the “perfect” name. You know there’s an old saying “the perfect is the enemy of the good enough”. How about “Can’t Decide”?
