Guess who

WHICH civic head honcho enjoyed an election day lunch in Old Town with Measure N proponents (and purchasers) Rob and Cherie Arkley?

Two hints: He recently announced his intent to retire but has since made it Eureka’s worst kept secret that he wants to keep his job.

How is the thing going with our DA’s underage son serving beer under the eyes of Paul?

Let’s hope it was a farewell lunch. Eureka can’t afford more lawsuits.

Heraldo is right. Eating food should be against the law!

  6. November 2, 2010 at 7:38 pm

According to Rob Arkley, these things are blog worthy.

2011. Mayor Frank Jager appoints Rex Bohn to fill his own recently-vacated council seat. Bohn and newly-elected council members Newman, Brady and Madsen give Dave Tyson an iron-clad contract for a return as City Manager. Rob Arkley builds Home Depot and Humboldt’s economy flourishes like mushrooms in the dark. Mushrooms in the dark?

Jane if Dave comes back and continues to misguide the city council the law suit will follow.

2011. Mayor Peter Lavallee joins Ron Kuhnel, Larry Glass and Linda Atkins to form the first non-Establishment majority in Eureka in over half a century…

I don’t know if it is true but it doesn’t bother me a bit. When I was a kid we used to help at mom and dad’s parties. I helped pour champagne at family weddings at 11. Guess what? I actually used to get a small glass of wine with thanksgiving or Christmas dinner. By the time I was 21 Alcohol had no “mystery” to me. I think it was pretty smart of my parents.

    Whoop de freakin’ do.

Speaking of drinking, it is an equally well-known rumor around town that the same Big A who is the subject of this post, was known to drink copious amounts of whiskey at home with his daughters, well before they were of legal age (i.e., teenagers).

    Hmmmmmmm!!!

The first report is ugly but it’s only 18% of the vote.

Drinking together is an Arkley family tradition throughout the generations. BTW, it looks like Measure N is “winning” by a substantial margin.

Again you people have no concept of how good a city manager we have . Under Mr Tyson the city actually runs with intelligence, as apposed to most. Although it is easy to bag on people when one is not really involved in the process. I say to you, “get involved you will then appreciate the people working hard for you in all aspects of the city”. I do not work for the city but am involved

  18. November 3, 2010 at 12:40 am

How much has he cost us in lawsuits so far?

One would have to work in a real position to realize how easy lawsuits are to file regarding employment issues. The only out from that is training, sadly the city and others lack the ability to keep abreast of all the labyrinth of regs. Again has nothing to do with the people (Mr Tyson), rather the ability to take from deep pockets. However; One would have to really be involved to understand. Again , easy to bag on people from the side, hard to actually get in there and work with them to affect real positive results. If any of you were there you would already know who this is

Oh yes, I think we do have a manager who knows how to manage the counciil. And we’re DYING for a new one!!! We are ready for a manager who doesn’t cost the city huge $ to defend his unethical behavior.

    Been a pervert-defender long, HiFi?

City Manager is an incredibly complex job, one more often bungled than mastered. David Tyson is a wonderful manager, respected and effective. The spastic, spitting few who hate him have never met him, did not know the epic failures that occupied the office in the decade before Mr. Tyson took the job or have any real understanding of the position.

I think Dave has done a quite good job as City Manager – especially in light of some of the horrors surrounding those holding the position in the past – which I do remember all too well. Unfortunately, he has shown some poor judgment in his personal conduct. I don’t know if that is something to consider in terms of him keeping the job? It may, however, be the source of some of the negative feelings and possibly impact his ability to be effective.

David Tyson is a buffoon who through his mismanagement just cost the taxpayers of Eureka a lot of $ in his attempt to help cover up sexual harrassment, etc. at the Eureka Police Dept. Tyson needs to retire. Now, preferably.
