SURPRISE! Tyson thru 2012

The Eureka City Council will vote Tuesday to extend city manager Dave Tyson’s at-will contract through the end of 2012.

Tyson had announced his retirement last year, but changed his mind sometime around the time the Brady Bunch swept into power.

“Putty in my hands,” he surely thought.

Tyson’s last contract expired at the end of 2010, but the city council approved 3-month extension in December.

The extension follows Tyson’s rough year in 2010 where he had to negotiate a $200,000 settlement to cover for his own alleged actions (and wrongful in-actions) that cost the city 100 G’s and its stellar reputation.

Hope it succceeds, best thing that could happen. By the way I am not a city resident but do have a city of eureka address.

The fear of relying on the private sector(err…Security National) to pay a decent wage and provide benefits was too much for him apparently.

Wait..If you think this is big..You haven’t seen nothing yet! Brace yourself this is just the beginning. Where does a person buy the book that Rich people use to brainwash the masses to make them think someday, the rich are gonna turn the money over to the ones they have brainwashed. How does this continuously happen over and over..Is it a High School wannabe thing, where these people think they have an opportunity to be in with the IN crowd! For the people by the people I thought. The older I get the more I realize its all about stealing our money, legally, so they don’t go to prison. No different than armed robbery, and they’re still gonna write your name on the bathroom wall. Time to stop giving away our power. Time to stand up to the injustices. Look across the big blue. If I were some I’d be scared. David has done things he is gonna have to live with. I hope you can sleep at night dave?

    Stealing your money? Really Juan?
If I’m rich, I stole it from you?
You are what’s wrong with government.
I’ll bet you get a check from Uncle Sam every month don’t you?

sfb has some problem with retired people? Remember, jerkwad, people pay into Social Security before they draw it out after retirement.

I imagine that Juan is referring to the quarter of a million dollar Global Investigation Treasure Hunt that Tyson threw to celebrate the Above the Law Blog or the out of town instructive Rub and Roll seminars on The High School method of small town government.

If Eureka hadn’t repeatedly opposed a 101 bypass, CR wouldn’t need to be offering teaching sites in Arcata, McKinleyville and… Eureka!?! When you have a campus in Eureka, it’s a sign of serious gridlock when you open a second site in the same damn town to be accessible to people. Build the damn bypass already.

  18. January 30, 2011 at 11:16 am

I would like to welcome back Mr. Tyson. That pep talk you had with Bret Favre did the trick.

    January 30, 2011 at 11:59 am

Good point and how much wasted money on payoffs to get rid of them. Tyson has run a pretty tight ship and most people would agree. There is always room for improvement in any situation. Let the man do his job and give the new council a chance to do theirs, there will be another election and a chance to make any needed corrections.

  23. January 30, 2011 at 12:13 pm

Suddenlink sucks balls- obviously from your screen name you’re scope of knowledge is limited,so let me be the one to inform you. There can never be a ‘eureka bypass’ as long as it remains the county seat

Why don’t we understand the thing that makes Humboldt, is it’s No Electricity and no Cars..Move your ASS to somewhere that has what you want..STOP trying to make Eureka where you came from, because its familiar. Enjoy and embrace the differences..This is the best place on EARTH..If we could keep people from always trying to change Eureka..A person needs MORALS and ETHICS to get my trust and David has neither..We know what he and Ginny did. It’s just no way to behave as a leader of a city..More like high school..again.

Sfb has rectalcranialitus..or in other words, your head is up your ass and your breath, it be stinky..Go back to where you came from and make it better. Thank You for your non-insightful dribble. Who’s paying..it seems from your posts you’re not happy and no-one else should be either.. Do some volunteer work and see whats really happening to people outside your little mind. People are valuable just because the breath air. We live in America, remember.

You do not know where I came from (and I couldn’t care less where you are from…it’s irrelevant).
You’re focusing on the CM (and my ass) too much.
You have no voice in his hiring/firing other than through your elected council members.

In other, much simpler words, you cannot vote Tyson out of office. In the next election, be sure to vote for those who represent your morals and your ethics. If that means no electricity and no cars (except for your internet connection), then I’ll move to Mexico.

Tyson is a fool. He could have retired gracefully back to his Cutten digs and watched as the new council dithered its way into infamy. Now he’ll have to try to direct the Circus and the Clown Council and, to some extent, share the responsibility fortheir dithering. They’re unpredictable which can only make his life miserable. Good luck, Dave. You bought it this time.

WordPress.com users don’t have to upgrade, it happens automatically as part of the free service. WordPress.org bloggers, however, do have to regularly upgrade.

Why is it that our city manager doesn’t even live in this town? Why is it that Sydney Olson lives in Ferndale? Would the decisions made for Eureka be different if official decision makers actually live in this city?
