NEW BLOG: Your HWMA Strategic Plan
The Humboldt Waste Management Authority if the focus of a new blog, which so far has one post calling for people to attend a HWMA Strategic Planning Scoping Workshop on Thursday, November 17 at 5:30 at the HSU Aquatic Center in Eureka.
The HWMA is about to develop and initiate a Strategic Planning process. Why is this important? It will create a regional vision and goals for Integrated Waste Management in our county. Recycling – how we want it done and by who – will be a critical part of the plan. The vision and goals will effect what future opportunities we will in Humboodt County to create and grow businesses that utilize materials recycled locally. If the public asks for it, we can get a planning process that is open, transparent and gives the public a prominent participatory role.
You can help make this a process that listens to and is informed by public input. The purpose of the workshop is to give the public an opportunity to comment on what they consider to be important elements of the HWMA Strategic Planning process; makeup and selection of the Public Advisory Committee; and issues that will be addressed in the Request For Proposal for the planning consultant and the contract proposal evaluation process. It is imperative that the public’s input is considered before the HWMA board finalizes this planning process.
