Happy Retirement, Larry Glass

Former Eureka City Councilman Larry Glass is moving on from the record store biz, but don’t expect to see him lounging around the Humboldt fog doing nothing. Glass is currently president of the board of the Northcoast Environmental Center, but he tells the North Coast Journal he intends to “enjoy life more” now that he’s turned the store over to longtime employee Bandon Taylor.

Good for Larry and good for Bandon! Good for them both for keeping open a local music store.

Congratulations, Larry. This is the best of both worlds. We’ll still have Bandon to put up with my requests for weird old records and Larry will still be in the community. Happy days!

I still have albums I bought there in 1974. Haven’t had a record player for at least ten years though. Good luck Larry.

That photograph looks like a storefront in Northtown Arcata next to Hey Juan’s. I thought Larry started in Eureka at 3rd and F streets.

Is that guy in the pic Duane Allman or Larry Glass? ;) Larry, you’re the man and I’m glad you have touched all of our lives for the better here in Mother Humboldt, showing us all how it’s done.

Knocking out my Toxics Law final exam tomorrow morning and coming home the next day, glad to hear you’ll have plenty of time to kick it with all your homies.

Larry, thanks for taking-on the intractable development community.

You were one-in-six to do so and win in the decades I’ve been here and two of that six, Kerrigan and Leonard, had the developer’s support for one of their terms!

God forbid an average citizen should have to go through what you did just to win a city council seat that the development community’s average candidates waltz into like a Right of Passage.

Who could even understand what McKeller or Hunter-Meeks were mumbling?

I worked for Larry in the 1980’s. I went on to have a great career and work for some great people. Larry is still the best boss I ever had. Good vibes his way.

    Hey! Larry is smiling!!

Isn’t that Virgil Payne sitting on the car?

Virgil hadn’t shown up in Humboldt yet in 1973, That is my seventies running buddy Herman Bouler on the car, Bob Hart by the window. I was always smiling in the seventies, guess why?
