Jimmy Smith to resign early

Humboldt County Supervisor Jimmy Smith’s term runs through the end of the year despite the election of his replacement Rex Bohn last week.

But Smith is facing cancer treatments and will step down early, the Humboldt Herald has learned.

When Smith announced he would decline re-election, he said it was to spend more time with his wife and family because his civic duties have kept him busy over the years. If he had health issues then he didn’t mention it.

Further details will be forthcoming in the Boards agenda packet, according to the Ferndale Enterprise. Agendas are posted on the BOS website late Friday afternoons.

Arkley likely believes this is “Another Jimmy head fake”. His hostile and nasty emails undoubtedly raised Jimmy’s stress levels, which wasn’t good for his health. Of course, ruining other peoples’ health is a valuable tactic when your objective is to be the “last man standing”. Arkley is a civic benefactor all right. He gives stress to whoever openly chooses to disagree with him.

I’ll always remember Jimmy’s incredible support for the first Humboldt County Stand Down inn 2006. On behalf of all the veterans whose lives have improved from these annual Stand Downs – thank you!
You are a class act. I’m sending positive healing vibes your way.

Not a Native: You are going to pick this moment to advance hostility and politically driven venom? I don’t post here as a rule but you evoke a response that is below my ability to respond without descending to your level of reasoning. I don’t have the ability to do that. But, I am compelled to say something. But to you Jimmy and Jacque, I am honored to have the privilege to know you both and have the greatest respect for your dedication and contribution to this community. We’re not done yet. There remains a lot of good work to do and you Jimmy, set a standard that very few, regardless of their political motivations have ever approached. As for you NAN, if you’d like to discuss my response in some detail, I am not hard to find. Face to face works best for me. JWH

Don’t hold your breath JWH. The piece of shit that posts as NAN is a little creepy person who works behind the scenes like Salzman. He lacks the testicular strength to come out of the dark.

Jimmy has always been quick to thank the people around him for the work they do, but never one to take credit for the fine work he has done on our behalf. Advocate, protector, Jimmy is the example for every community leader. But above all else, he is a friend to our community.
An honest man is the most noble work of God. Jimmy Smith is an honest man. I wish him strength and endurance and look forward to his return to good health.

What kind of parents would name their kid “Dick Wad?”

My comment wasn’t about you Warren. Its about Arkley’s intentional efforts to harm Jimmy. Arkley can and does speak for himself. Your peanut gallery input is gratuitious. But taking special efforts to seem to defend Arkely’s hurtful acts against Jimmy is simply pathetic. Although you have succeeded to bring thugs out from under their rocks.

The only reason we know of Arkley’s intent and actions that hurt Jimmy is a FOIA request. Otherwise it would be a secret. When everyone publically reveals the harmful things Arkely does privately, he will get the public censure he deserves. Its just sad that in this case, he maliciously hurt a nice person. But bullies instill fear to silence those they hurt.

What works best for me Warren isn’t the secret meetings that you prefer, but public discussion of nasty and hurtful actions that Arkley feels empowered to inflict on others.

Despite not naming a single source, the T-S decided to go with unconfirmed reports that Jimmy is retiring. At least now we can provide a source for the story, the BoS will discuss the item at Tuesday’s meeting. The agenda item is scheduled for the afternoon.

\Sad to see you go, Jimmy.

Did the original Non a Native die and leave his moniker to someone else? The new NAN has a distinctly different voice and writing style. Just observing.

As I said NAN, I am not hard to find. Understood about the FOIA request (and the responses) and there were and are nothing but routine, well intentioned conninications with constituents and friends, I am proud to be one of them, You won’t find much to wirk with there,

I am only questioning your timing, Specically, why you pick this sad moment to move your anti agenda, There are plenty of opportunities for that down the road,

We don’t need to put up our dukes here. I’d rather celebrate Jimmy’s dedication and accomplishmnts. If you are worried about secret meetings, we can remedy that, I;d just prefer resolving differences, when there is a chance, on a face to face basis, Maybe Heraldo or Hank will be willing to sit in to mediate and protect your interests.

Otherwise it’ll be be by my lonesome,.

So much uninformed angst. Get’s tiresome after a while NAN. I understand the comfort of that warm blanket of annonymity provides.

    Whar’s more secret than that?

    Give me a call.

    I’ll even buy the coffee.
