Bohn era begins August 3rd

Governor Jerry Brown has appointed Rex Bohn to take over Jimmy Smith’s seat on the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors starting August 3rd.  Press release at the Lost Coast Outpost.

Smith is stepping down for health reasons, and did not run in the June election.  Bohn won the seat by a landslide and would have been sworn in to the $81,576/year gig in January 2013.

EARLIER: Jimmy Smith to resign early

It’s good! Especially allowing Mr. Smith to leave and take care of himself – I personally feel Rex has a lot to do to fill Mr. Smith’s shoes and replace his energy in the job he did. Doing what Mr. Smith did in representing his district will be 100 times more difficult, than throwing watermelons at me 40 years ago, you still missed, Rex!!

It was the sensible thing for the Governor to do.

I hope Rex surprises me…in a good way.

Rex has the knowledge, skills and ambition to do a good job. All he has to do is not let the nay sayers control him.

Bohn will be seated months before the public can determine if his final campaign contribution reports come-clean…not that any print, TV, or radio media gave a damn during the election.

Failing to report 60 (well-known) contributor occupations? The first and only local candidate to use multiple phony front groups? What did they cost? Who was behind them? Were they reported?

If it was Linda Atkins, would this have become “ancient history” so fast?
