Former Florida GOP chairman, gov., call voter fraud efforts “marketing ploy”

http://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/news/state-regional-govt-politics/early-voting-curbs-called-power-play/nTFDy/

Republican leaders said in proposing the law that it was meant to save money and fight voter fraud. But a former GOP chairman and former Gov. Charlie Crist, both of whom have been ousted from the party, now say that fraud concerns were advanced only as subterfuge for the law’s main purpose: GOP victory.

Former Republican Party of Florida Chairman Jim Greer says he attended various meetings, beginning in 2009, at which party staffers and consultants pushed for reductions in early voting days and hours.

“The Republican Party, the strategists, the consultants, they firmly believe that early voting is bad for Republican Party candidates,” Greer told The Post. “It’s done for one reason and one reason only. … ‘We’ve got to cut down on early voting because early voting is not good for us,’ ” Greer said he was told by those staffers and consultants.

“They never came in to see me and tell me we had a (voter) fraud issue,” Greer said. “It’s all a marketing ploy.”

Note: Greer was forced out of his GOP chairmanship after allegedly stealing money from the party.  Former Governor Crist has run for Senate as an Independent.

Look at his history, and tell me you don’t think he has an ax to grind? Maybe we should ask Rod Blagojevich…….he’s a democrat, so he must always tells the truth!!

I’m only surprised that one of them admitted it. No one with an IQ above room temp was fooled by their election fraud hysteria.

Come on! Crist quit the Republican party after he lost a primary, switched to independent and lost again in the general election. Marco Rubio won the Senate seat. He wasn’t “ousted” he quit. The article is biased from the jump making it worthless.

Give me one good reason on planet earth as to why a voter should not prove who he is to cast a vote.

Right on Ms, Jane. What gets me is no one is being prosecuted for abusing their office and violating people’s civil liberties. I say that to cut off those particular snobs who like to point out that there is no actual “Right” to vote.
People’s lives are destroyed for things that can barely be considered crimes. Huge sentences brought down on the poor for living in poverty stricken drug cultures, yet republican operatives can commit all manor of crime and never worry for a minute that they will be punished; even when the grizzly details are played out across the national media. Oh, wait; they own the national media. Silly me.

I agree PJ, “no one with an IQ above room temperature” would be fooled by these lying politicians and yet the electorate time and again votes these enemies of the people into office. You have to look no further than Humboldt County Board of Supervisors and the Eureka City Council to see our group mentality in action.

    Dear Florida Freeper,

Since none of us Humboldt Conservative Republicans have the balls to actually use our names to criticise you we have issued this statement.

Anonymous……I may be a Republican, but my opinions are not always with the party line. For example, I’m O.K. with abortion. As a matter of fact, I believe abortion should be mandatory for pregnant women with two or more children who are collecting any form of welfare.

on the Free Republic website we know you are used to getting lots of guffaws and backslaps from all your fellow white male adolescent readers there. We understand it is just a little joke, your sense of humor.

The Free Republic is a cesspool of white male racism, sexism, narcissism and home to wankers of the worst order.

on a Humboldt County blog you get *crickets* except of course from a couple of libtards.

    Why is that?

First of all, we aren’t crazy. A few of us actually want to get elected to some office some day.

Secondly, a lot of us conservatives here in Humboldt are *Catholic* conservatives. Your comments are despicable to us.

We don’t like welfare or socialism any more than you do. We just aren’t crazy.

    Go away.

People who advocate forced abortions are monsters, CRAP. Even in China, while they “encouraged” abortions by giving compliant couples benefits not available to those who had more than 1 child and used peer pressure against those who had additional pregnancies, were they so authoritarian to force abortions on the unwilling. You have to go back to an even more monstrous regime to find such government policies targeting the “unwanted” population with the mandatory abortion, infanticide and societal “cleansing” the neofascists long for.
