Does Logic Matter?

“Irony is a form of utterance that postulates a double audience, consisting of one party that hearing shall hear & shall not understand, & another party that, when more is meant than meets the ear, is aware both of that more & of the outsiders’ incomprehension.”

I want you all to think about that and how it relates to this post.

    24,

People of all political viewpoints have been “guilty” of ignoring logical argument here and posting appeals to emotion of varying degrees of success. I’d say this isn’t driven particularly by the nature of the Herald’s audience; more likely, it’s driven by anonymity — including people who would use the standard propaganda technique of becoming their own hallelujah chorus — combined with the trends in the larger society’s attempts at political discussion. It’s still disheartening.

Mrs. Thomas is noble to try laying down some basic information. People will do with it what they will.

I hope Mrs. Thomas is successful in her efforts and does not burn out in the way I have.

It is nice to have an occasional source of “inside information.” But, IMO, it would be even nicer to have a source of reasoned and reasonable discussion about local issues, one where who you are doesn’t matter as much as how well-argued your statements are.

If you pose the querstion, then the answer to your question is yes…that is for you, personally, at such moment in time, and all relatedhappenstance of consequence, as you may or may not choose to relate. Who, what, where and when is the reality in which you live?

    For example…

Do specific members of government…local, stateside and federal…want to increase the ratio of pavement versus natural habitat within the lawful confines of what the same confined law has recognized as “Richardson Grove”…a globally recognized habitat of treasured merit? Yes, there are paid representatives of the general population utilizing the general population’s money to increase the ratio of pavement to old-growth habitat within said confines.

There is no “logic” to such action. Any and all practices otherwise do not and have not prevailed in material reality…the reality in which you, dear reader, choose to live.

Let’s be simple. HWY 101 is a federal highway. CALTRANS has been improving the road since it was constructed. The realignment within Richardson Grove State park is another project to make the road safer. If you oppose making HWY 101 safer and better your motives are, well, I don’t know what your motives are.

Where, when, how and for whom, within the confines of what you, HUUFC, choose to define as “reality”, have the benefits of continuing to remove any amount of natural environment outweighed the collective loss that has already occured? As you, personally, choose to define it even? You’re integrating the sensibility of human beings operating their own machines to the permanent destruction of their own natural environment. The point is entire, regardless of how small a portion of your timed scope of reality may encompass.

There is no benefit to anybody whatsoever in removing any(more) natural habitat anywhere on this, our one and only planet that we hairless apes refer to in visually literative terms as “earth”.,

Right this very moment, the hairless ape who posted as “HUUFC” exists tangent to the focused reality of the same electronic babble box you, dear reader, are paying complete attention to…everybody’s collective moment passes regardless. Without context of HUUFC, I believe the redwood trees of california have been damn near killed in genocidal fashion, close to damn near extinction! Within the confines of my own reality, it is more than “bad” to further desecrate the species. It is proving that the wellbeing of every living entity on this planet depends on a reversal of such effects as the initial genocide of that life form.

“the redwood trees of california have been damn near killed in genocidal fashion, close to damn near extinction!”

No, they haven’t. A large percentage of the old-growth has been cut (and most of what remains is in the state and national parks), but there’s millions of acres of second-growth redwood out there. So, yes, the old growth redwood forests, and the whole ecosystem that goes along with that, has indeed been decimated. But the redwood itself, as a species, is certainly not in any kind of danger of extinction.

“The point is entire, regardless of how small a portion of your timed scope of reality may encompass.” – that’s classic FQ. I don’t see the “crazy” being left out.

Your inability to understand the message doesn’t necessarily mean it’s crazy. It is possible the problem is with your comprehension of complex ideas. Maybe the poster in question could put it in plainer language for those who don’t understand what was meant.

  23. Anonymous
    February 7, 2013 at 9:41 am

Its possibly my expectation of grammatical standards… Maybe FQ is not crazy, but she is certainly “syntax-challenged”. There is nothing terribly complex about a phrase such as, “your timed scope of reality may encompass”. It is simply poor writing.

If the poster was able to convey their opinion in a way that you understood it, picking apart their grammar rather than debating the meat of the opinion doesn’t add much to the discussion.

If logic was favored people might tend to discuss situations without going tribal or repeating ‘group thought’ slogans and seek to find areas of agreement and desired goals. When you speak to the perceived ideology of a group the conversation and solution does not go forward. The focus is on defending the tribe.

the motives are simple; its not about humans its about every one else, frankly i only speak for the unborn, the animals and the plants, humans are fucking this world. its time we put Gaia first her children secound (excluding us) and humans last.

The language we all read and speak, HUUFC, was born of druidic atrocities as well. This planet by any other name is our entire and only lifeblood. To not see the common sense in restoring and repairing the natural world, let alone to instead favor reason in a socio-economic mode that is by its very nature contrary to such common sense, is absolutely illogical in any language.

I’m with HUUFC. I had to look up Gaia myself. From the pictures, she’s kinda chunky, but had a decent rack. Interesting that she had two sons without a man’s help. Must have been the first feminist.
Creepy part is she married her own son, and produced a wide array misfits, including Cyclops. That’s what happens when inbreeding runs rampant!

Are you unaware that the Christian God impregnated his daughter Mary who gave birth to the savior/god of Christian mythology? It’s a common theme in most religions to give a human face and voice to “god’s will.”
