No Love for Boob-Groping Guv

In case you feel left out, it wasn’t just the Times-Standard that underwent late notice that the governator was in town.

Although the Humboldt Herald broke the news that Schwarzenegger had descended upon Eureka High, we did not suffer the same insult landed upon T-S reporter James Faulk, who endured a high school door shut in his face when attempting to “sit in on” the exclusive interview the Guv gave Eureka Reporter editor Glenn Franco Simmons.

Being the bigger man, however, Faulk brushed aside such royal snubbing in order to fulfill the duties of a reporter.

After a break-down on Arnold’s fascination with student work on an engine powering the hated Humboldt hippie-mobile – the Subaru – Faulk shares the pain of working for the paper not owned by Arkley.

The governor, after giving a brief talk to the general media, disappeared behind a closed door with Editor Glenn Franco Simmons of The Eureka Reporter, a newspaper owned by one of Schwarzenegger’s largest financial contributors, Rob Arkley … [while the] reporter from the Times-Standard was turned away at the door, despite requesting to sit in on an interview that was taking place on public school property.

Times-Standard editor Rich Somerville added:

I’m unsure if this exclusionary interview reflects cynical political manipulation by the governor’s office, or merely communications incompetence. It’s certainly ironic, however, that the Times-Standard recently endorsed Schwarzenegger for re-election, while The Eureka Reporter has not made any election judgments, as far as I know.

While “cynical political manipulation” is clearly the culprit, the Humboldt Herald feels no sympathy for suckers who endorsed the gropenator.

I disagree with the 1st comment.

I enjoyed hearing how the Governator restricted special press access on property that MY TAXES maintain – to the ARKLEY-owned newspaper.

    Special strokes for special folks.

    regarding the first comment:

I remember when the eureka republicans called the police and filed a report….
because somebody SPIT on the front window of their downtown HQ.

    Haw!

    Talk about wussies.

(not that there’s anything wrong with that)

    ps: HAW!

    Hey Everybody!:

If the EUREKA REPORTER is our “local newspaper”, why is the jurisdiction listed as ALASKA on the CA Secretary of State’s website of corporations?

Well you can’t blame the Governor for having standards !

And if SECURITY NATIONAL is our friendly “local” bank….

why are all their corporate listings also marked with Alaska for the jurisdiction?

    http://kepler.ss.ca.gov/corpdata/ShowLpllcAllList?QueryLpllcNumber=200301810138

    http://kepler.ss.ca.gov/corpdata/ShowLpllcAllList?QueryLpllcNumber=200029810046

I mean, I’m certainly not insinuating that a LOCAL BUSINESSMAN is doing anything unlawful or anything.

I’m just asking a question because all this mumbo jumbo law stuff just confuses me.

It certainly looks odd, but I’m not an expert.

    Anybody know what this means?

    thank you

probably means that SN and Arkley has business all over, incdluding Alaska. No bg deal, nothing sinister.

It probably stems from the fact that the failed bank that Arkley bought and ended up as what we know as Security National today, was some Alaskan bank, or so I’ve been told. At least it seems to me Alaska was in the name.

I could be wrong about the particulars, but I was told by someone in the know that the bank they bought had something to do with Alaska.

The only cynical political manipulation is coming from the times Standard-can we believe (haha/cough/choke) that you are not trying to manipulate the vote when you give David Cobb unlimited space to blah, blah, blah about candidates the T-S not only has endorsed, but given preferrential slant in paper space, photo layouts, choice of verbage??

You low lifes should be barred from campus period.

Hey the time-standard didn’t mind doing and “exclusive” with the DA cronies after the DA and his cronies refused to answer any of the ER’s questions re: court documents on the Bowman plea bargain. But…I guess they don’t have to be consistent when whining.

I must have missed that one? Is that in todays T/S ?

That’s right. How dare the Times-Standard ask for equal access to the Governator?

After all, darling, they don’t travel in the same circles as we do. They are not wealthy at all. They buy their clothing off the rack! How tacky is that?

Don’t you just hate it when people try to get above their station?

Let them pile up a couple hundred million dollars. Then let them come back and ask to speak with Arnold. We’ll certainly let them into our club then. And we won’t even ask how they got their money!

    How very fair of us!

It wasn’t the Governator that was being protected-it was the kids at school. The T-S staff has been warned repeatedly to stay away from our kids!

10:51, The ER had already cut off its own nose to spite its face, if I were the DA I wouldn’t talk to the ER either after that hack job.

Since when is the Truth a hack job?

Seems that the ER printed documents that the DA couldn’t respond to.

GO James, No James, Never James.

Since when is the Truth a hack job?

Seems that the ER printed documents that the DA couldn’t respond to.

Are you High-when has the DA…is that short for duh? When has he ever answered a direct question?

You gotta be kidding-he thinks he’s still in debate class/junior high. And since he graduated from a NON accredited ‘law school’ he never took the class where you have to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Oh I agree with you 1:27 – The DA can’t respond because he is too stupid to get his lies straight.

Faulk brushed aside being snubbed and performed his duties as a reporter? He spent half of his article whining about not sitting in on the interview Simmons apparently arranged ahead of time. Even Sommerville was dragged into the spilt-milk sob-fest. Jeez.

“Arranged” or not, Schwarzenegger is notoriously afraid to field tough questions. I guess I’m going to have to read Simmons’ interview.
